What is Email List Management?
Okay, after looking into all the ways you can market your business, you now want to learn more about email marketing. You understand how important it is to include email marketing into your strategy, because it’s a free strategy and the return on investment is pretty great. You’d like to proceed and get started with or improve your email marketing. But how do you market your business through email marketing, and how can an email list manager help?
There are a ton of ways email marketing helps businesses, and I can talk to you about it for hours. I recently explained how email marketing can help your gym in particular, a lot of that also translates to other fitness brands. So now that you’re completely on board with email marketing, let's look at a few problems and struggles gym owners and fitness brands run into while marketing their business through emails.
#1 problem business face when they’re not working with an email list manager
Many businesses work with a copywriter to have their emails written for them. Copywriter sends email in google doc. Somebody on the team will upload the email, somehow, someday. Not the smoothest process!
Are you sick of this too? Brace yourself for the smoothest email marketing process your business will ever experience.
What makes an email list manager so much better?
An email list manager does not only write the emails, so they make sense and follow up on each other (doesn’t always have to be done by and email list manager, but it’s definitely the better way). The email list manager will also upload the emails to your Email Service Provider (ESP) and send them out or schedule them to get sent out at the right time. I will also check your deliverability as part of my email list management service, which is a huge factor when it comes to your opens and sales!
4 email marketing mistakes, an email list manager can fix for you
It’s not a one way street
Wait, email marketing isn’t a one way street?
Absolutely not. An email list manager should ask for replies and engage with the subscriber. This makes your email marketing more personalized and people are more likely to buy and stay engaged because they feel heard, and they feel like they belong. It also gives you great insight in how your audience’s feeling. Yeah, it does take a little more time, but use this to your advantage!
Images and fancy looks
There is a misconception about fancy email with tons of images. These types of email often end up in the promotion folder, carving a path towards the spam folder, yikes… not a great place to be heading!
Instead, you don’t want your emails to feel sales-y and promotion-y. People don’t like to be sold! You won’t just put ‘buy product X’ on your website, do you? (if you do, definitely hit me up 😉)
No, you tell a story, listen to your audience’s feelings etc. The same goes for emails, don’t send them a copy of your product page!
Sell sell sell 🤑
Running a promo? EMAILS! Launching a new product? EMAILS! Need to boost your sales? EMAILS!
Now, the subscriber sees an email, what will they think? Nope, not spending my money, friend!
They’ll see your sales pitch from miles away, and it doesn’t really benefit them. So without opening your email, they’ll send it straight into the bin, which leads your other emails to the spam folder slowly, too. What a waste! 👀
Instead, tell stories about your products and services and give them free advice occasionally. This way, they’ll understand why your product or service will help them and feel more confident making the purchase.
Deliverability
Cool, you’re sending out emails! And now you hear that they’re in the promotions tab in Gmail.
Or even worse… the spam folder… Ouch!
Emails in the primary inbox have an open rate that’s double on average, compared to emails in the promo tab. You know what that means? Your email in the promo tab is making HALF the money it should be making. So if you're leaving 5k+ on the table, it would be worth it hiring an email list manager for half that money, right? Leaving you with more revenue and more happy clients.
Are you scared of sending too many emails and people unsubscribing?
Just think about this, the people who find you want to better themselves and care about their health. You help them!
Say, I’m trying to lose weight. I’ll be frustrated and I’ll want to learn EVERYTHING that will help me lose weight. Because losing weight is super hard, so any tips and motivating content will help me towards my goals and will be most welcome.
And I’ll probably want a daily reminder that holds me accountable!
So, if somebody is interested in something, they’ll want to hear about it. And if they unsubscribe, they weren’t going to buy from you anyway. (🤫 there’s a trick to selling to people who attempt unsubscribing… I’ll tell you when we work together!)
Email list management for gyms
Email marketing for gyms seem like a funny subject. Your members are already paying, so why would you invest your money into hiring an email list manager for your gym?
A gym with a good strategy, though, has many other things to offer that can be added on to just a membership. And will focus on retaining clients, because getting new clients is much more time-consuming and expensive compared to retaining existing clients.
I’ve come up with plenty of ways of how you can sell more to your clients, without being sales-y. Simply sending informative and entertaining emails, allows your client to learn more about your products and services without pushing them into buying stuff they don’t need. You’ll increase the average amount of money they spend monthly, and thus your monthly revenue increases!
On top of that, you can hold them accountable and entertain them, so they stay motivated to come and work out and stay a member for a longer period of time. This increases the total money they spend in their lifetime at your gym!
(Psst, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Want to learn more, let me know. 😉)
